Road Trips

Up front we have to admit we are pretty hopeless at map reading but getting lost has got us into a few ‘hidden gems’ on our road trips over the years. Like the time we actually got to experience what they mean in Playa Grande Costa Rica when they say avoid backroads in rainy season 🙂

Satnav and Google Maps has changed driving and road trips in terms of navigation but the freedom of the open road is still as intoxicating as always. And there are places where you simply can’t rely on technology (Alaska for example) and a map needs to be on your packing list!

Midlife travel is especially suited to roadtrips with hopefully a little more time. We find that we build in more stops along the way, just to soak in a view, or walk through a small village.

Northern Ireland is a great example of this. But our road trips still pack in fun activities, interesting experiences and a few off the beaten path gems en route and at our overnight stops.
