Memorable Itineraries
Are you contemplating a bucket-list to see the sights of Sicily or maybe sneaking in a weekend in a less visited capital city like Tbilisi in Georgia?
We love creating our own itineraries because it lets us build in things we want to do and not rely on a cookie cutter itinerary. When we get somewhere new, we make time to meet local people, and always get ideas and hidden gems from them.
Like the time in North Macedonia when a restaurant owner offered his cousin to drive us to the canyons just outside Skopje!
So, every itinerary below is the result of our travels and the best of what we gleaned from people who live in each place. No itinerary is going to be perfect off the bat because we’re all different! Like one of us is veggie, the other is not so you will find restaurants that offer both!
We also add names and details of drivers, tours guides, hotel owners in our posts where they have shone in terms of friendly service, helpful tips and just genuinely lovely people – like Ivan on our Montenegro and Northern Albania trip.
How to Find The Trip That Is Right for You
Start with your budget which we think about in ‘time’ and ‘money’.
Is there a bucket list experience that matters during this trip, for example, being in a specific place for summer solstice, or a festival that you’ve always dreamed about? If yes, you’re going to then build your itinerary around this and that time of year.
If not, you have more flexibility to think about going in shoulder or even off season. Trips during the week tend to be less busy than weekends when residents want to enjoy their cities too. Here’s our tips on How to Find A Travel Deal!
For more ideas, our inspiring destinations lists many more places to consider, all of which we have spent time in and some we have called home including Alaska, Azerbaijan, London and Edinburgh.
